Helping form the foundation for his mellow, bluesy delivery, Beres grew up listening to American soul and pop music from Stax, Motown and other vintage sounds. Fast forward to now, his own influence on others is witnessed from a diverse list of singers: including Shaggy, Romain Virgo, Christopher Martin, Rihanna and much more. The “Love I Can Feel Riddim”, like many great and classic riddims, is a remake of a Studio One Rocksteady track that was first released in the late 60’s/early 70’s. The “Love I Can Feel Riddim” is titled after John Holt‘s cut of the same name, released in 1970. A deep song about a man who’s longing for true love… A love he could feel… This 1991 version was produced by Donovan Germain in collaboration with Dave Kelly. It features great tracks such as the classic “Tempted to Touch” by Beres Hammond, “Fresh Vegetable”by Tony Rebel, and more.

The “Run Down The World Riddim” is a remake of an early digital Reggae riddim, produced by Lloyd “King Jammys” James in 1985. It is titled after Nitty Gritty‘s cut of the same name. This 1991 version, produced by Donovan Germain, features Wayne Wonder, Mad Cobra, Sanchez, and more.

I personally have a preference for the “Love I Can Feel”. This is mostly due to the fact that I (unconditionally) love Beres. Nevertheless, both riddims are very good. Let’s say one is perfect for holding on tight to your love and rub-a-dubbing and the other is better for a slow wine at the dance. Even if you don’t have someone to call your own on this V-day, I hope you will enjoy those riddims.
