You may have noticed that lately the App Store is a little bit overcrowded by stranger and stranger games, developed with the purpose of making money.
Fortunately, like a breath of fresh air comes Octagon, a fast paced arcade game where are trapped inside a shattered octagon, littered with hallways, platforms, gaps, and other traps, and find you way towards the finish line without falling over.
Designed to put your hand-eye coordination to the ultimate test
There’s no doubt that this simple yet very addicting game will test your reflexes and your anticipation skills, as you will have to accurately flick from left to right, flip upside-down, and surf on top of the octagon’s walls in order to avoid speed bumps and holes.
The whole experienced is spiced by a very tasteful animated background, with a hallucinatory inducing palette of colors, and an absolutely cool and spirited soundtrack by the Czech artist Sqeepo. If, understandingly, you don’t know who Sqeepo is, we recommend you search his name on YouTube, as you may like what he’s ripping, especially if you like music from the Dubstep and Glitch Hop area.
An intense game that demands tons of concentration and coordination
Back to our game, as you make your way through the standard 60 seconds levels, the difficulty level will gradually increase, translating in both an increased speed and more difficult to foresee obstacles.
There isn’t really much more to Octagon, but that’s mainly the beauty of it, as you don’t really have anything else to do, except give it your absolute best to stay alive in this ruthless, almost substance-induced environment. Needless to say that the later levels will become so hardcore and so fast-paced that keeping your calm or momentary mental satisfaction will be in itself quite a challenge.
Captivating, frustrating at times, and not even for a second close to being mainstream
But, fear not, as with some important things in life, completing level after level despite failing numerous times will bring you a feeling of fulfillment, and, in essence, this is what makes you want to keep going, further and further.
All in all, this game can prove to be quite addictive for some, but, look at it this way: it will either be the perfect excuse to forget all about your every-day duties or it will make you push yourself harder and further until you get the job done.
Octagon will help you take your mind off your day to day problems, and, for this reason alone, Octagon is what we would call a must-try game.
